Securing admission to engineering programs at VIT campuses involves a structured process from online application to final campus enrollment. Candidates must clear the computer based entrance test and participate in centralized rank-based counselling to confirm their seats.
Selection Stages
Stage 1: Apply Online
Candidates must complete their application on the official portal (viteee.vit.ac.in) between October 24, 2025, and April 12, 2026. A non-refundable application fee of INR 1,350 applies to all applicants.
Stage 2: Slot Booking
Registered candidates log into the booking system to select their preferred test date and exam shift. Official mock tests are also provided during this stage to help candidates understand the computer based test interface.
Stage 3: Computer Based Test (CBT)
Candidates appear for the 150-minute exam conducted between April 28 and May 3, 2026. The test comprises 125 multiple-choice questions across Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Biology, Aptitude, and English, totaling 500 marks with 1 mark deducted per wrong answer.
Stage 4: Result Declaration
Scores are normalized across exam shifts, and All India Ranks (AIR) are published on the official website tentatively in May 2026 along with counselling eligibility details.
Stage 5: Online Counselling
Eligible rank holders register for online counselling by paying a non-refundable fee of INR 5,900. Candidates submit their preferred choices for campus branches and academic programs during this phase.
Stage 6: Seat Allotment
Provisional admission letters are issued based on normalized exam ranks, choice preferences, and available branch seats across participating VIT campuses.
Stage 7: Document Verification
Provisionally admitted students complete document verification and pay the tuition fees to finalize their admission and join their respective campuses.
How The Final Merit Is Made
The final merit list for VITEEE 2026 is based entirely on the normalized scores obtained in the Computer Based Test. Because the exam is conducted across multiple shifts with varying question papers, the equi-percentile method is applied for score normalization. Ranks are assigned according to these normalized scores. Cutoffs vary by campus, branch, and fee category. High rank holders in the final merit list are also eligible for merit scholarships during admission.
